Despite being quite a fan of horror and the supernatural, I’m not well-versed in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Of course, I am familiar with the mighty Cthulhu, who first landed on my radar not by his legend, but via Metallica. Indeed, it was Metallica’s instrumental “Call of Ktulu” from 1984’s Ride the Lightning that was my first exposure to this mythical beast, and some three+ decades later it seems that Cthulhu’s fame is greater than ever as the tentacled one has risen to become a household name.
