I still remember seeing Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for the first time. It was the first movie that really hit me as capturing the reality of being a kid in 1982. The little STAR WARS references, the whole Halloween sequence – it all seemed so real to me. By the time I had a red BMX bike, I used to pretend that I was Elliott, about to lift off from the ground and fly toward the moon. As an adult, I’ve owned that movie several times, and it’s hard to believe that it was 10 years ago that I purchased the 20th Anniversary Edition DVD set – much less that it’s been 30 years since the film hit screens. In fact I showed my daughter the film for the first time last year (she LOVES it), and I still have an E.T. statue in my office. Well, today Universal Studios hit The Rock Father with a press release announcing that the original, non-altered 1982 film will come to Blu-ray this October. They’ve included a trailer and some photos, so let’s take a look at all of it.
