Following the success of the documentary film, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Sony Pictures is rolling on an Untitled Mr. Rogers Project with Tom Hanks taking on the role of Fred Rogers. Two-time Oscar-winner Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in what’s described as “a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.”
This first-look photo hit my inbox this afternoon, the first official photo from the film to be circulated to the media. This new film arrives in neighborhoods everywhere in October of 2019 via TriStar Pictures.
