I have an above-average affection for Warner Bros. Ocean’s series. I’ve been a longtime fan of the 1960 Frank Sinatra-starring Ocean’s 11 that inspired Steven Soderbergh’s stylish 2001 film, Ocean’s Eleven. I fell so much in love with the vibe of that film and its David Holmes score that I used it as inspiration for certain elements of my own Death Walks the Streets screenplays and comic book series. Then, when Ocean’s Twelve filmed in Chicago, I worked on it for one day in an uncredited role as a bartender (sadly, cut), but did get the priceless opportunity to work with Andy Garcia, and be directed by Soderbergh himself.  By the time Ocean’s Thirteen came out in 2007, the franchise was losing a little steam, but still fun. Now, here we are a decade later and it’s time for the continuation – Ocean’s 8. Directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games), today the first-look image and synopsis hit my inbox here at Rock Father HQ. Check it out…

Ocean's 8 Official Stills

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ first look at “Ocean’s 8” from one of New York City’s most iconic locales: the subway.  In Summer 2018, the tide will turn as (L-r) Debbie Ocean (SANDRA BULLOCK) attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala.  Her first stop is to assemble the perfect crew: Lou (CATE BLANCHETT);  Nine Ball (RIHANNA); Amita (MINDY KALING); Constance (AWKWAFINA); Rose (HELENA BONHAM CARTER); Daphne Kluger (ANNE HATHAWAY); and Tammy (SARAH PAULSON). Did you know that director Gary Ross also co-wrote the screenplay for 1988’s Tom Hanks classic, BIG? He sure did.
