There’s the old cliche that “they don’t make ’em like they used to,” and when it comes to action figure playsets, with few exceptions (Playmates Toys’ recent TMNT Sewer Lair), that’s completely true. Prime example: the massive Kenner STAR WARS Death Star Playset from 1978. This thing was four levels of fun – and no, I didn’t have this one – but someone in my neighborhood did, and it was always awesome to play with. Looking back, it was so 70s sci-fi (more than the movie, even) and just perfection – right down to the basement trash compactor. The Kenner STAR WARS Death Star Playset is today’s feature in the Force Friday Countdown Calendar, which has me wondering: will the toys for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS have some sweet playset in the mix? We should find out in September…
