GUSTER – ON THE OCEAN (EP Review)

This article is more than 15 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information, broken links, or could be missing images and/or attribution.

gusterepKeeping their established fanbase engaged with a collection of songs left-over from the sessions that became 2010’s EASY WONDERFUL, Boston’s GUSTER have issued the ON THE OCEAN EP.

Leading the collection of six with a title track that already appears on the previously-mentioned album, the remaining five are a mixed-bag of tracks that play as an uneven collection instead of a coherent EP, making it clear of what this really is – a Maxi-Single.

The live versions of Satellite and That’s No Way to Get to Heaven feel out-of place and jammed-in, while the closing remix of This is How it Feels to Have a Broken Heart just isn’t very good. ON THE OCEAN might be a fine item for the diehards to snag while checking out a live show, but there’s just nothing here for new listeners to embrace.
