When it comes to comedy, the gold standard just might be the ol’ pie in the face. In fact, history pegs the 1909 Essanay Studios silent comedy MR. FLIP for being the first instance of the pie in the face gag – an act that would later be known as “pieing.” Over a century later, there’s still some fun to be had with a good gob of whipped-cream in the face, and the folks at Hasbro Games are bringing that home for the holidays with PIE FACE – a new game with a simple concept that could bring an element of silly sweet fun to family gatherings and game night.
Made for two or more players to share in the splat-tastic fun, the goal of the game is to reach 25 points first, with players scoring a point for each turn of the handle that doesn’t result in a SPLAT! You simply spray some Reddi-Wip onto the hand of the pie-throwing arm, let players start spinning, and on each turn another face gets placed into the splash guard for a suspense-filled turn of the handle. See it in-action below!
Sure, PIE FACE comes with a simple set of instructions – but who says you have to follow “the rules?” You could easily put your own spin on the game and take turns with the roulette-style action – seeing who in your family has the best “Pie Face” – with the funniest player taking the cake! Or… pie.
For our family, my wife declined to be photographed for this feature, so her “pie face” is firmly marked CLASSIFIED. It was really The Rock Daughters™ that have embraced their pie faces, with Addie wanting to do it again and again – to the point of taking extra clicks with hopes of getting splattered in lieu of points. After all, with each splat comes an element of deliciousness… albeit one delivered with a dash of suspense!
Hasbro Games’ PIE FACE is available now at HasbroToyShop.com and many of your favorite retailers this Holiday season.
