LITTLEST PET SHOP has had quite the renaissance over the past few years, the Kenner toy line of the 80s re-imagined by Hasbro, entertaining new generations of kids through a cross-platform approach led by the Hasbro Studios-produced TV series that first aired on the late Hub Network, and now runs weekdays on The Discovery Family Channel. We’ve long had some of the toys here at Rock Father HQ, complimented by the Shout! Factory DVD collections, and for Holiday 2014 there’s what just may be the ultimate LPS toy – the LITTLEST PET SHOP Style Set, the pet shop itself, presented in an interlocking form that allows kids to add additional buildings to create their own city block. That said, LPS takes it’s place in my 2014 Holiday Wish Guide.
Sent to us early this Fall by Hasbro for review, the Style Set was a little daunting when I first opened the box, but looks can be deceiving since once I started putting this together (grownup assembly definitely recommended), I was surprised at how cool a playset this is.
The 135-piece set is customizable, with reversible backdrops, translucent mix-and-match side panels, decals and additional accessories (flowers, hairbows, bones, etc). Recommended for kids ages 6+, it’s been a magnet here for my youngest as well, and parental supervision is required due to small parts (the aforementioned accessory pieces) not for children under 3.
With so much detail and room for fun, I even got into the action and lit this up to see what the LPS would look like at night for a bit of “Toyography” –
The LITTLEST PET SHOP Style Set is Rock Father-approved, and available now from Amazon and other retailers, along with the recently-release PASSPORT TO FASHION and STRIKE A POSE! DVDs from Shout! Factory Kids.
