If I were to spin back the clock a few decades and point my lens to a specific neighborhood and a specific house somewhere in the south suburbs of Chicago, I would be able to see a little boy that was dreaming of bigger things. Sometimes that child would be tuned into WFLD-TV Channel 32, watching Reb Brown and Nicholas Hammond as Captain America and Spider-Man in re-runs on the UHF band. During those shows there might even be a commercial for the incredible stories being told in the pages of Marvel Comics. It was a simpler time, and one where no one could’ve ever predicted how prevalent those characters would one day be around the world. Now, as the 19th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to be released, that little boy is now a man – and one invited to walk the red carpet at the World Premiere of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War! As a guest of The Walt Disney Company and Marvel, I will be back in Los Angeles as part of a group of 25 writers, bloggers and online personalities as we experience the debut of the biggest superhero film in history as part of the #InfinityWarEvent – April 22-24, 2018! What’s unique about this it that the World Premiere will mark the first time that the cast as seen the film… and like last year when the cast assembled at the D23 Expo in Anaheim to share in watching the first footage from the film together, somehow this kid from Illinois will be there with them.
The World Premiere will take place on Monday, April 23 at 7pm PST, but the red carpet adventure begins a bit earlier. Tune into the official livestream (embedded below) for a look at the red carpet festivities that will begin at 5:30pm PST. Aside from the official livestream, those following the #InfinityWarEvent hashtag on social media can see real-time updates from the carpet, including photos and videos – many from yours truly!
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, which is produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee are the executive producers. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay. Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters everywhere on April 27.
Now, as always, when the opportunity to work with Disney comes along, we always maximize our time together, and that means I’ll be taking part in promotional activities for a few other projects. First up is the launch of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, which is coming home Digitally in HD and 4K Ultra HD™ and Movies Anywhere on May 8 and on 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™, DVD and On-Demand on May 15 (full details here). I’ll be catching up with Executive Producer Nate Moore on the Walt Disney Studios lot to take a look at the bonus materials on-deck for the release. We’ll also meet with Disney Consumer Products to take a look at the full array of items from Avengers: Infinity War, after which we’ll cap off the Marvel portion of the event, we’ll head over to Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus to speak with Victoria Alonso, EVP of Visual Effects and Post-Production of Marvel Studios.
Finally, we’ll be heading over to ABC for an early look at QUANTICO Season 3 along with Executive Producer & Showrunner Michael Seitzman and Marlee Matlin (“Jocelyn Turner”).
