61SlKQe6TLL. SL160 The classiest punk rock cover band and group of Bar Mitzvah ruiners on the planet has gone South. No, they haven’t gone country (they did that back in 2006), they’ve taken a musical journey to Australia.

On GO DOWN UNDER (out Feb 1, 2011 on Fat Wreck Chords), the supergroup with members of NOFX, LAGWAGON, SWINGIN’ UTTERS and FOO FIGHTERS put the classic Me First spin on  a quintet of songs originally performed by Aussie artists.

While the song selection lacks the instant recognizability of their previous releases to an extent, this short burst of music is a fun reminder of a band that was doing the “covers thing” long before it was commonplace – and still does it better than most.
