Modern Retro Toys: DUKES OF HAZZARD Action Figures on the Way…

Published:

This article is more than 10 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

2014 marks the 35th Anniversary of the DUKES OF HAZZARD, a show very close to my heart, and one that falls right in there with KNIGHT RIDER as part of that “Retro Pop Culture” thing that I like to share with my kids. I have a couple of seasons on DVD, but since CMT just started running them remastered in HD for the first time, I figured I’d take a peek and see if anything new was in the pipeline on the toy front, and boy, was I surprised at what’s coming…

This spring, the Figures Toy Company (known for retro-style figures of BATMAN and KISS) will release both 8-inch and 12-inch figures based on the DUKES OF HAZZARD. With styling that mirrors what MEGO may have (and actually had) done way back when, these characters come with real clothing and accessories. With both sizes labeled as “Series 1,” it looks like we’ll be seeing more that just the first wave of Bo Duke, Luke Duke, Boss Hogg, and Roscoe P. Coltrane if these do well.

They’re up for pre-order right now via (my affiliate) Entertainment Earth, along with a carrying case

Now, how about a GENERAL LEE that’s built to scale for these? I used to have those little, STAR WARS-sized figures back in the early 80s. They were sweet.

BONUS: Stay tuned, as I will soon be revealing some recently unearthed and digitized (from Super 8mm film) footage of ME on my GENERAL LEE BIG WHEEL from the early 80s.
