This is one of those stories that I didn’t really know where to file here on The Rock Father. I could put it in the “For Grownups” section, but then many of you that just skim the “family-friendly” frontpage wouldn’t see it. Plus, since it ties into something that I’d previously posted in my personal blog, that’s where we are today…
Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the death of Adam Yauch… MCA of the BEASTIE BOYS. I shared my thoughts on his demise the day after it happened, and now, a year later, something old is new again.
PBS DIGITAL STUDIOS has unearthed a never-before-heard interview with the BEASTIE BOYS, one in which “they reflect on touring with Madonna and winning over her audiences, their hardcore NYC street credit vs. a suburban perception, and discuss how they named their group with the ‘stupidest name’ they could come up with.” The piece has been animated into the latest installment of David Gerlach’s BLANK ON BLANK series. Watch it below:

The interview originally took place in 1985 by Rocci Fisch for ABC News Radio. The source audio was rescued from cassette tape, and animated by Patrick Smith.
