We know a thing or two about James Bond. Sure, my name sounds a bit like the famous spy of the Ian Fleming novels and twenty-plus films, but that’s not it. I’ve just watched the movies a bit (though I still need to see SKYFALL), and I recently introduced my little ones to the vehicular side of Bond through a visit to the Volo Auto Museum. Addie took a liking to the Aston Martin Vanquish that was featured in DIE ANOTHER DAY, and not long ago, the folks from Toy State sent us one of their Aston Martin DBS QUANTUM OF SOLACE Editions to test drive here in The Rock Father’s State-of-the-Art Toy Testing Facility (our house, yard, sidewalk). Truth be told, I’m sort of an Aston Martin fan in general, so this was a fun ride to check out.

Surprisingly detailed for a toy car with a price point under $10, this entry-level 007 ride could be considered a toy… or a collectible. Lights, Sounds, Music, and Motion, this little replica of the famed Aston Martin DBS plays two snippets from the James Bond Theme, while headlights and taillights move to the music. There’s a horn/alarm sound, while a third button activates engine sounds as the car then powers forward for a few feet. Check out the electronics in the video below…

Part of an assortment that also includes the Aston Martin DB5 (Casino Royale), Lotus Espirit (The Spy Who Loved Me), and Aston Martin DB5 (Skyfall), the QUANTUM OF SOLACE edition is a good-looking, good-playing ride that has scored fans in kids and parents alike. Action Figure of Daniel Craig not included.
