Review: MEZE 11 Deco Wood Earphones

This article is more than 10 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

Back in February, the very persistent folks at Meze sent me a pair of their Meze 11 Deco Wood Earphones for review here at Rock Father HQ. With the amount of stuff that rolls in here sometimes, it’s tempting to rush things through and look at it like – “hey, they’re earbud”s – and do a quickie review. Something that I learned a long time ago is that while media is fast moving and people often want coverage yesterday (or now, now, now), I need time on certain items, and when it comes to those things that fall into the musical realm, I need to actually live with them for awhile. I need that true experience, the time in which an item can take it’s place with me, and go through all of my regular adventures. Only after that is complete will I know my true feelings. The Meze 11 Deco’s have become a part of my daily routine, and thus fully integrated into my life. The sound of my music is important, and music is the foundation on which this entire site was built.

These tiny earphones, each with it’s electronics encased within a handcrafted casing of beech wood, are indeed as elegant as they claim. Classic styling, these don’t have that “throwaway” feel that earbuds tend to. I’ve owned many headphones over the years, from the cheap to the expensive – the large to small – and the Meze 11 Deco’s strike that rare sweet spot between style and function. Quite simply, they both look and sound great.

I’m not sure how many of my readers realize this, but the bulk of my work that appears online is usually done between 8pm and 2am, with a lot of automation thrown in to keep the virtual “me” speaking throughout the day. With my office being in my home, and my work being done when the girls are sleeping, I use the earphones a lot. If I don’t, it’s a near-certain guarantee that my wife will head down from upstairs and tell me to “turn that down.”

Meze 11 Deco Review

Rock Father Approved 2014I’ve taken my Meze 11 Deco’s on trips to Los Angeles and Vancouver. Whether on the ground or at 35,000 feet, they’ve served me well. And now, they’re my go-to earphones to use while working out at the gym. I’ve lived with them, and I can honestly say that I enjoy them immensely. Rock Father-Approved!
