One of the smartest things that the folks behind Disney Junior’s SOFIA THE FIRST have done is to connect the Kingdom of Enchancia to other, more familiar Disney Kingdoms – but it’s Sofia’s Amulet that really ties things together and helps to bridge the Magical World of Disney by bringing in some famous friends to assist when the time is right. When presented with challenges, Sofia is able to use The Amulet of Avalor to summon a more experienced princess, and in THE ENCHANTED FEAST, it’s Snow White that answers the call.

With guests from the neighboring Kingdoms visiting Enchancia for “The Enchanted Feast” – a meal accented by the magic of Cedric – things get a little crazy when devious fairy Miss Nettle shows up disguised as a sorceress to swipe Sofia’s Amulet. After consulting with Snow White to learn a familiar tale of a wicked woman and a ripe, red apple, Sofia and Cedric break out a plan to squash Miss Nettle’s dreams. The message here? Trust your instincts!

While the titular episode may have spawned the DVD, as always, there’s some additional episodes included, and there’s an unexpected side-effect: It’s entirely possible that The Girl Scouts of America could be benefitting from SOFIA THE FIRST and not even know it.

Sofia the First“I want to be a Buttercup.”

That declaration was made by my five-year-old daughter, Addie just a couple of weeks ago – not just to me, but to my wife as well. The Buttercups are the Enchancia equivalent to a Girl Scout Troop, and while there might be some Brownie days in the future, the start of Kindergarten for Addie this Fall opens up the possibility of becoming a Daisy Scout in the very near future. Who knew it would be Sofia and her friends to open up that interest? There’s an entire episode dedicated to “The Buttercups,” and it’s on this DVD.
