On April 1, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release THE PIRATE FAIRY, a film that is not only a sequel to recent films in the Disney Fairies series – but also a prequel to a true Disney classic, 1953’s PETER PAN. I recently paid a visit to DisneyToon Studios (I was there as a guest, and yes, it was on Mickey’s dime) in Glendale, California to get an early look at the film (review forthcoming) and a look at all the tie-in products that are being released this year to further entertain kids and grownups alike that find themselves enthralled in the world of Disney Fairies. Me? I’m sort of like “the boy who wouldn’t grow up,” and I got to hang out in the “zen garden” of the same facility where cool stuff like PLANES was made, while eating lunch with some fellow bloggers and wearing a Tinker Bell watch.
There’s a wide array of items either in-stores now or on the way soon, with Disney Consumer Products working with various licensees to bring some of that magic to your favorite “mass retailers,” and the folks at Disney Store developing their own, exclusive line of merchandise straight from the world of THE PIRATE FAIRY. I came home from Disney with an assortment for my girls, so we’ll start with a hands-on look at those first, and then take a peek at some of the others. Since my oldest daughter has Disney Fairies Fathead wall graphics taking up one wall of her bedroom, it’s safe to say she’s a little excited…

ROCK FATHER Notes: Now, I should probably point out that my daughter (pictured right with Zarina from this collection) is not wearing a Disney Fairy costume. No, but dressing like a Fairy – specifically a Fall Fairy – is commonplace here at Rock Father HQ. Doesn’t have to be a holiday or special occasion, just being Friday will suffice.
Our 9″ Zarina doll is beautiful, and was an immediate hit when I brought her home. She made fast-friends with many of the other dolls that live with us here in our semi-secret home base.

ROCK FATHER Notes: Similar to some smaller dolls from the Disney Princess line that we already had, we now have the 4.5″ Zarina doll, and those rubbery outfits kinda weird me out – but the kids love ’em, so it’s cool. It’s sort of a SPOILER, but these dolls are in almost perfect scale to the Baby Crocky plush I’m going to cover further down the page. Look for a picture, and it will all make sense.

ROCK FATHER Notes: The Disney Store always has their own doll lines, which often compete with whoever has the mass retail line (usually JAKKS Pacific, Mattel, etc.). These are no exception, and the color scheme of this one (an inch taller than the version we have) seems truer to the movie. We don’t have this doll, but I’ve seen it in-person.
