Today could be the greatest day for any guitarist with chops worthy of joining Chicago’s Smashing Pumpkins.

Following the departure of Jeff Schroeder last fall, the core band — Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin — is seeking a replacement for the 16-year Smashing Pumpkins vet.

This opportunity comes with the built-in workload of tours across the North America and Europe, including The Saviors Tour — a massive trek across the U.S. and Canada with Green Day, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas fueled by Monster Energy.

Fans in the Chicago area can catch the excitement at Wrigley Field on August 13.
