IRON MAIDEN have long been doing well on the cross-branded merchandise, but as recent forays into everything from beer to airlines has shown, there is no limit to the might that can come from the ‘Maiden. Today comes news out of CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas that the legendary band has teamed with ONKYO for a new project called MAIDEN AUDIO. With a booth that’s decked out complete with a large-scale statue of band mascot Eddie (holding a blaster and wearing Iron Maiden headphones) housed within the Gibson Guitars tent, it’s a true teaser of a launch.

While details on the actual products have not yet been revealed, headphones are a certainty, and I’m certainly up for giving them a shot upon release later this year. I tend to experience a lot of headphones here at Rock Father HQ, and co-branded artist series models are becoming an increasingly-frequent thing (check my review of Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville line by MTX). Check out the picture that ONKYO posted on their Facebook page yesterday…

Beyond the Iron Maiden collaboration, another ONKYO product I’m really interested in is their new CP-1050 Turntable…

ONKYO CP-1050 Turntable

Here’s what they have to say about it:

Aimed at music lovers looking to discover—or rediscover— the magic of analog sound, the CP-1050 features a super-smooth low-torque direct-drive motor that reduces low-frequency cogging noise as well as the high-frequency noise produced by some belt-driven designs which use a fast-spinning electric motor. The CP-1050 can play both LPs and 45s, and comes with an adapter for 7-inch records.
