On June 23, the fifth film in Michael Bay’s cinematic TRANSFORMERS franchise hits theaters, and it’s going to be a Transformers tale unlike any we’ve seen before. In the latest trailer for TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT, we see Optimus Prime called upon by his maker (if you recall, “the makers” wanted him back in the last film) and is seemingly reprogrammed to be an enemy of the human race. The Transformers have been here for years, and a call is out to “rethink history,” as the Autobots and Decepticons have ties to The Knights of the Roundtable, the Nazi Empire, the Samurai warriors of Japan and more. Take a look…

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero.  Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone.  The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.  Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference.  In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes.  Heroes will become villains.  Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Fingers-crossed that Hasbro decides to make a World War II-era Bumblebee figure. I’m down for it!
