TOMAHAWK, the band featuring Mike Patton (FAITH NO MORE, FANTOMAS, MR. BUNGLE, a bunch of other cool bands), Duane Denison (JESUS LIZARD), John Stainer (ex-HELMET, BATTLES), and Trevor Dunn (MELVINS LITE, MR. BUNGLE, FANTOMAS) have set free the first sample of their forthcoming album, ODDFELLOWS (out January 29, 2013 via Ipecac).

“Stone Letter” is the first single, and it’s currently streaming over at SPIN (and below via YouTube) in a pre-release tease (it’ll be out as a Record Store Day 7″ on Black Friday, then hit iTunes December 4).  While the new song rocks hard, it’s also one of the more mainstream accessible offerings that I can think of from the band. According to SPIN, “ODDFELLOWS is easily Tomahawk’s most diverse to date: There’s groany, smoky, Morricone-jazz; there’s twisty AmRep-gone-R&B bludgeon; and, most notably, there’s the types of epic, majestic choruses that Patton diehards might remember from the final Faith No More LP, Album of the Year.”
