With Black History Month upon us, a new installment of “Be Inspired” has launched on Disney Channel and Disney XD, this one featuring Cameron Boyce (DESCENDANTS, GAMER’S GUIDE TO PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING) paying tribute to his grandmother, Jo Ann Allen Boyce. In 1956, the first group of African-American teens to integrate into a public school in the South were dubbed “The Clinton 12,” and Boyce’s grandmother was among them. View the video below…

The “Be Inspired” cameras followed as Cameron, his sister, parents and grandmother make their first visit together to the monument, its 12 life-size sculptures of the students and the Green McAdoo Cultural Center in Clinton, Tennessee.

Boyce commented, “My Nana is part of ‘The Clinton 12’; I’ve always known she is incredible and now, everyone else will know too.”
