TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES are sometimes confusing. Having been rebooted many times over the years in cartoon, CGI and live-action (both cinematic and televised) forms, it’s often a question of which version of the TMNT is the definitive one? But it doesn’t really matter, despite being a now-grown kid that was rockin’ a brightly-colored TMNT shirt from the 1990 film back in the day, and who still drools over the latest action figures from Playmates Toys on a regular basis – those based on the current Nickelodeon series. Now comes the trailer for the Michael Bay-produced shot at a live-action TMNT movie, and here’s the deal: I like Michael Bay. Take a look…

It could be said that it “bears the mark” of Bay, and even looks a little TRANSFORMERS-esque, which isn’t really surprising. In fact, I could see the Autobots and Decepticons inhabiting the same world as Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael… but Bay didn’t direct this one, Jonathan Liebesman (who helmed the Bay-produced TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE prequel) did.

The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil and her wise-cracking cameraman Vernon Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.”
