He's come a long way from playing Gutter in the cult-classic, PCU, and now Jon Favreau is firing-up the hyperdrive and heading toward a galaxy far, far away. This morning, Lucasfilm announced that the Emmy-nominated producer and actor has signed on to executive produce and write a live-action Star Wars series for Disney’s new direct-to-consumer platform. Favreau has played roles in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and has a role in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story

I will preface this by saying that I have an overwhelming love for Winnie the Pooh. Our oldest daughter's first nursery (we were in an apartment before moving into our house) was decked-out in "Classic Pooh," and her all-time favorite and most cherished toy is a plush "Poopsie Bear." While I loved Pooh as a child, as a parent I will always have fond memories of sharing the Disney Winnie the Pooh tales with our girls, and this summer a new one will hit theaters. Christopher Robin is a live-action film that will open the world of The Hundred Acre Wood as characters from that world enter ours. See the teaser below...

During the 90th Academy Awards, ABC aired a 30-second spot promising the full teaser for MARY POPPINS RETURNS "tomorrow." Since Disney often does the trailer premieres during Good Morning America, that seemed a likely spot for the clip to debut, but it actually arrived online tonight! From the official Walt Disney Studios YouTube Channel comes your first real look at what should be one of the holiday season's biggest hits - a film I'm very much looking forward to. Check out the teaser for Mary Poppins Returns...

After making their debut in one short sequence from 1984's The Muppets Take Manhattan, the Muppet Babies made the jump to television for a long-running animated series that ran until 1991. It's been nearly three decades since the original series came to the end of its run, and now it's time for a long-overdue reboot for a whole new generation. Disney's MUPPET BABIES launches as an all-new original series premiering FRIDAY, MARCH 23 with two back-to-back episodes on Disney Channel (10:00 a.m. EDT) and in the DisneyNOW app. Today, The Rock Father™ and Disney Junior  have teamed-up to present the EXCLUSIVE premiere of Muppet Babies: Show & Tell - a new short-form series that young audiences can enjoy starting March 2nd. In these shorts, kids can get to know the Muppet Babies and their environment, starting with a first-look at the playroom and backyard through the eyes of Kermit the Frog. How connected is the new series to the classic Muppet tales that that kids like me grew up with in the 70s and 80s? There's a definite connection... you might even say that there's a "Rainbow Connection." Check out Kermit's Show & Tell...

Last spring, I was visiting Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California as part of the ramp-up to the launch of Cars 3. But that wasn't the only film that the studio was gearing up for at the time... down a festive-looking hallway, animators were hard at work on another Disney•Pixar film for later in the year... Coco. I wasn't able to explore further than the entrance to that hallway, but in many ways it served as a metaphor for what was yet to come - a story of a boy that was about to enter a colorful, vibrant world filled with music, and at its core - family. Now available in-home (sent to us by Disney for review), Coco is a film that families will want to experience again and again. Beware that the following contains major "spoilers" for those who have yet to see the film.

The Rocketeer is being reimagined. Perhaps best-known from the 1991 film based on the comic series by Dave Stevens, the story is being given new life as Disney Junior has announced the start of production on a new animated adventure series for young kids and their families slated to debut in 2019. The Rocketeer will follow Kit, a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing she's next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-powered jet pack. Armed with her cool new gear and secret identity, Kit is ready to take flight and save the day with her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and airplane mechanic uncle, Ambrose, who join her on her epic adventures.
