The original PARTY OF FIVE was a 90s staple of Fox - the tale of the Salinger siblings, a family dealing with the loss of their parents in a terrible car accident. When news hit my inbox that a reboot was coming, the immediate "HOW?" was answered with a timely, very Trump-era twist that is, as the saying goes, "ripped straight from the headlines."

The surprise reveal of Disney TOYBOX Action Figures in the fall of 2017 quickly became one of the most popular articles of that timeframe. Based on artwork and assets from the now-shuttered Disney INFINITY video game, the Disney TOYBOX line brings to life characters from across the Disney family, including those from Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. The new figures feature animated styling, 14 points of articulation, and a signature accessory. With the first wave very well-received, many have wondered what's next for the line, and now we have some answers! Presented here on The Rock Father™ Magazine is The Ultimate Disney TOYBOX Checklist - an up-to-date list of the latest confirmed figures for this exciting new line. We'll be updating this indefinitely as new figures join the fold. Disney TOYBOX action figures are available exclusively through ShopDisney.com (an affiliate of this site) and Disney Store locations.

I've generally stayed away from posting "leaks" of any kind here on The Rock Father™ Magazine, but as we approach the release of what will be the fourth Star Wars film of the new era, it's time to say something about how the merchandising is being handled for my favorite franchise. Starting with the 2015 release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, new Star Wars merchandise has been unleashed during a promotional blitz that's been a street-dated affair. Force Friday was followed by Rogue Friday for the 2016 release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was followed by Force Friday II ahead of 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Now, we're staring down the May 2018 release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and all signs are pointing toward a spring launch event for the tie-in gear. Now comes the first problem with this strategy...

Funko POP! Vinyls have become an incredible phenomenon in recent years, allowing kids and collectors to amass huge collections of their favorite pop culture characters. For those who want something smaller, the Pocket Pops! have been a great option, and one that's recently spun off into the keychain realm. In reality, these collectible, tradeable miniatures are simply Pocket Pops! with a keychain screwed into the top, so you can easily unscrew the keychain to play with the figures by themselves. My friends at Entertainment Earth recently sent us an entire factory-fresh display case of the new Funko Disney Series 1 Pocket Pop! Keychains, so Finley and I entered The Toy Testing Facility at Rock Father HQ to tackle these blind bags head-on in an episode of UNBOXED! Check out our full unboxing video below for your first look at this awesome new assortment...

Jon Favreau's THE LION KING Assembles its Cast...

At the D23 Expo in Anaheim this summer, I was in the room when Jon Favreau walked on stage to present a first-look at early footage from his reimagining of THE LION KING. I truly wish that all of you could see it, because it's phenomenal. Still, it was unfinished, but an evolution of the photorealistic animation that Favreau did so well with on last year's THE JUNGLE BOOK. Today comes word from Disney that the cast for this new vision for the 1994 animated classic has been assembled. See the full lineup below!

It's week six for the second season of ABC's THE TOY BOX and this coming Sunday we'll get a look at new batch of toys from a fresh crop of hopeful toy inventors. As we've seen before, not all of the toys being showcased are truly "new," and several of them have crossed my path here at Rock Father HQ in recent years. This week sees a game that launched at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair back in 2012 - Ninja Cards. Sound familiar? They might, as they already made a failed run at Shark Tank back in 2014. Five years in, how will this one fare against the judges on The Toy Box? We'll find out this Sunday, but first check out the full rundown on all eight toys competing this week...
