Fall Fun is Coming to HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE WORLD...

Written by

Last year, we had a sweet adventure at HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE WORLD in Pennsylvania. If we lived closer, we'd certainly be back for this - their latest round of seasonal fun, which just so happens to be for my favorite season of all: Fall. Hershey's Chocolate World is launching a full assortment of festive activities for Fall and Halloween, and the details just rolled into Rock Father HQ. Check 'em out below...

THE ROCK FATHER™ is a "Be Your Own Jack" Brand Ambassador for Hungry Jack. All opinions are that of James Zahn, because he is his own Jack.

Back in June, I shared with you my experience with Hungry Jack Racing, fueling-up with a great breakfast before the JTG Daugherty Racing Team took to the track. Back at home, it's always worth remembering that breakfast is the most important meal of the day - a chance to fuel-up for whatever adventures that the morning might bring. Here at Rock Father HQ, one new element of our breakfast routine just so happens to be a fresh spin on The Rock Daughters' favorite thing to eat in the morning: Pancakes. My friends at Hungry Jack have just released their all-new Complete Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix with 10 Grams of Protein! A complete mix (just add water!) - in addition to being packed with protein, it also has six vitamins + iron, and is a great source of calcium. I feel a Pancake-ism coming on...

"It’s time to pour a beverage! It’s time to make some snacks! It's time to read some stories with THE ROCK FATHER tonight!"

This Fall, THE MUPPETS are back with an all-new series on ABC, one that's geared toward grownups - folks like myself, that grew up with Jim Henson's wonderful characters. Since there's a solid chance that grownups might be enjoying a grownup beverage as well, the folks at Diamond Select Toys are helping get those drinks "Muppified" with the release of four new pint glasses, each shipped in a colorful logo box. Kids of the 70s and 80s rejoice! There's THE MUPPET SHOW, PIGS IN SPACE, MUPPET LABS, and my personal favorite... DR. TEETH AND THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM!Entertainment Earth has them all up for pre-order right now...

Lalaloopsy SIP (Sew Important Person) Brand AmbassadorThe world of Lalaloopsy just keeps getting bigger, and this month my friends at MGA Entertainment are making things even sweeter with the launch of LALALOOPSY KITCHEN, an all-new original series. With new episodes premiering on YouTube every other Wednesday, kids can learn how to make some real food using the Lalaloopsy Baking Oven. What? You don't have an oven yet? Well, THE ROCK FATHER Magazine (a Lalaloopsy SIP - "Sew Important Person" - Brand Ambassador) is gonna get one lucky reader set-up with an Lalaloopsy Baking Oven, but act fast - entries will only be open for one week!

Hello, I'm the real Colonel Sanders...

Written by

"Howdy, folks! It's me, the real Colonel Sanders!" That's the message delivered tonight when commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken inexplicably replaced former SNL star Darrell Hammond with former SNL star Norm Macdonald as Colonel Harland Sanders. Why? Who knows, but Macdonald was a better Burt Reynolds than Hammond was a Sean Connery (take that, Trebeck!), so I'm cool with it. No press release or advertising dollars arrived here at Rock Father HQ for this, so we'll just chalk it up to a little "earned media" for KFC on this one. You know what? I know a thing or two about plugging fast food on network television, so I think I should just declare myself as "the REAL Colonel Sanders." They say you "can't just put some guy in a wig and white suit and call him the Colonel," but I disagree.

It's Snoopy's Birthday, Charlie Brown!

Written by

PEANUTS WorldwideBefore the word "Snoop" went hand-in-hand with the D-O Double-G, there was simply Snoopy - a loveable beagle created by Charles M. Schulz way back in 1950. While we knew the first year that the dog hit the scene, it wasn't until the late 1960s that we knew that Snoopy's birthday was actually August 10th. While he'd be 65 years old in human years, Snoopy turns 273 today (according to the Dog Years Converter) and he looks absolutely fabulous as we look forward to the release of THE PEANUTS MOVIE from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios on November 6th. With celebrations taking place around the 'net, here's a few of the best...

This week, Nashville rocker JASMINE CAIN unleashed her latest album, WHITE NOISE.  Produced by Lincoln Parish (CAGE THE ELEPHANT) and featuring special guests including guitarists Jeff LaBar (CINDERELLA), Gerry Finn (KILLER DWARFS) & Charlie Parra - the album also has an appearance by Ralph Saenz (aka Michael Starr from STEEL PANTHER) on the closing number, "Fall to Rise." While a new album and a tour rolling into the biker Mecca of Sturgis, SD is a pretty great way to end a week, the added bonus that arrived here at Rock Father HQ alongside the CD was a bag of Jasmine Cain's Coffin Coffee - and that was a highlight for me. Two things I love are coffee and rock, and Jasmine Cain sent me both. Along with The Rock Daughters (Addie in particular), I decided to do my first-ever video review of a coffee for Rock Father TV.

If I was writing for certain other sites, the headline for this article would've been "You Won't Believe What Happened When These Men Smoked a Twinkie!" or "These Guys Lit a Pine Cone on Fire... What Happened Next will Surprise You!" Would either of those make the hook here any less... odd? Probably not, but the fact remains that you can smoke a Twinkie, and Chef Paul Shoemaker and Jimmy Wong just did it for the new Kitchen Lab video series from Bon Appetit. Check this out...

Get Ready to Rock with Pringles® Summer Jam!

Written by

Pringles SummerJam 300x128When you're into playing music, everything around you has the potential to be used for sonic purposes. While I've always been a guitarist first, I've been known to have percussionist aspirations, going as far as to put a five-piece drum set in our garage - something that The Rock Daughters™ and their friends really enjoy dabbling with. When the crew over at Pringles® asked me to offer up some thoughts about how I'd do a jam (like their Pringles® Summer Jam® Summer Jam!) I agreed, but at Rock Father HQ, there's music being played every day already. I just can't say it's always good, but I'll strap a few Pringles® cans to the drum set to see what I can do...

Made to Matter: Handpicked by TargetTHE ROCK FATHER has partnered with Life of Dad and KIND Snacks for this promotion. Why? Because he likes to work with people that rock, and they both do.

While our family has things pretty good, one thing we tend to lack on is outdoor adventure time as a complete unit of four. Scheduling is the main issue, between my wife's career and my work (which has changed a bit to where I'm a work-at-home-dad about 80% of the time), the The Rock Daughters™' school and now summer activities. There is always something going on, and while we have a pretty great life, there's a lot of adventures that tend to take place as a unit of three - with my wife and I flip-flopping the "parent at the helm" duties. The biggest challenge of every adventure is simply getting all four of us together at once and without something that "has to be done." That's why I was thrilled to partner with Life of Dad and KIND Snacks on their #KINDMilesMatter campaign - an effort to spend some family time logging some miles on foot, with the folks at KIND donating a box of snacks per mile for an organization of our choosing. Thing is, even here my schedule jammed me up. We were supposed to log miles between June 20 and July 6, and guess what? I was traveling for work for the entire first week of that (a rarity to be gone so long in one run), but it had to be done.

THE ROCK FATHER loves Mac & Cheese, so he would’ve written about KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner even if it wasn’t a sponsored post for Socialstars #Youknowyouloveit

As parents there are quite a few traditions that my wife and I have carried over from our own childhoods, putting a modern spin on them and sharing with our daughters. Most of those things could be considered more pop-cultural - the movies, the toys, the games but there aren’t many of are traditions that involve food. On the surface, that might seem a little odd, both of us coming from relatively large extended families, rooted in food-centric cultures of Italian and German heritage. Times have changed, as have tastes. And what we know about the things we eat - but one childhood tradition that we have carried on is just about as American as they come and continues to get better with age: KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner.

When the UPS man arrives here at Rock Father HQ each day ("Package Man," as the girls call him), I sometimes receive some... shall we say, "interesting" things. Once in awhile, said items are oddly practical, and pretty on-the-mark for my personal tastes (or lack thereof). One of the latest oddities novelties to arrive is THE GRILL SERGEANT Grilling Apron from Big Mouth Inc. Yes, I have a well-documented Camo appreciation, and I also like G.I. JOE quite a bit. Perhaps it's because I feel like "A Real American Hero" of the grill... or maybe I'm sort of amused by the weird looks that the kids next door give me when I'm wearing it, but I dig this thing.
