We're getting extremely close to the theatrical debut of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS Story, the very first of the standalone STAR WARS films, blasting into theaters on December 16. From director Gareth Edwards, this new tale tells the story of a group of unlikely heroes that band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. As it's been for the past four decades, a key component to bringing that cinematic fun to life at home has been with STAR WARS action figures, vehicles and playsets - something I enjoyed back in the Kenner era, and something that our daughters enjoy with a wide array of toys from Hasbro. With that in mind, Disney/Lucasfilm, along with many of their product partners have been inviting fans to #GoRogue, telling their own stories. To celebrate, Disney Consumer Products and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine are offering readers a chance to #GoRogue and win a box of STAR WARS toys from Hasbro! Get details and enter below...

As we near the release of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS Story on this December, the promotional efforts are ramping up (see the new trailer) for what will stand as a very unique STAR WARS film. Today comes a selection of eight character posters that show off the diverse band of Rebels (and one villain) whose story will unfold around the world in less than two months. Take a look...

"Darth Vader is in this one?!?!" That's the big reaction from 4½-year-old Jedi-in-training, Finley, as she watched the new trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS Story with daddy here at Rock Father HQ this morning. While I've loved everything that I've seen from filmmaker Gareth Edwards' new standalone "STAR WARS Story," this trailer did something that's hard to do - it took me back to my childhood so perfectly that I had both a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. This is the first big-screen STAR WARS film to take place outside of the Skywalker-driven "Episodes," focusing on a story that takes place in-between Disney XD's STAR WARS REBELS and the opening crawl of 1977's first STAR WARS film. This is the tale of the Rebels that stole the plans for the first Death Star - the very plans that Princess Leia once placed inside of R2-D2, setting off the Saga that generations have known and loved. See the new trailer below...

I'm fairly certain that I've never set my DVR to record GOOD MORNING AMERICA before, but that changes with the scheduled reveal of what will likely be the final full trailer for ROGUE ONE: A Star Wars Story set to debut on GMA tomorrow, October 13, 2016. Director Gareth Edwards dropped the news on today's episode of THE STAR WARS Show (see it below), along with the first-look at the new one-sheet poster for the film. I'm just gonna say, I need one of those hanging in my office. Take a look...

Review: Hot Wheels Star Wars Carships - Wave 1

The folks over at Mattel made some waves this summer when they rolled into San Diego Comic-Con International with a fully-functional, life-sized "Carship" based on Luke Skywalker's "Red Five" X-Wing Fighter.  The real-world ride was to help launch the new Hot Wheels Star Wars Carships line, officially hitting stores now as part of the ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS Story product launch. These new vehicles are four-wheeled toys (cars) based on famous vehicles (ships) from a galaxy far, far away, and while there's been a total of nine cars revealed thus far (see my regularly updated checklist here), there's just four in the first wave. Instantly-recognizable to all-ages of STAR WARS fans, the first wave consists of vehicles based on some classic ships including Han Solo's Millennium Falcon, Boba Fett's Slave I, Luke Skywalker's X-Wing Fighter, and an Imperial TIE Fighter. My youngest daughter, Finley, and I recently got our hands on a set, and here's what they look like in The Toy Testing Facility at Rock Father HQ, complete with video...
