Oh yes, they did.
I received my first CABBAGE PATCH KID back in 1984 – the result of my parents not paying scalpers for one during the mad craze of 1983. I still have him – his name is Ollie – and he’s now a happy cousin to many other Cabbage Patch Kids here at Rock Father HQ, those owned by my daughters, and even one known as “Baby Boy“ that was owned by my late friend, Justin Mentell. The dolls created by Xavier Roberts have had an interesting history, having been produced over the past 30+ years by Coleco, Hasbro, Mattel, Toys “R” Us, Play Along Toys, JAKKS Pacific… and now, Wicked Cool Toys. Just ahead of New York Toy Fair, the folks at Wicked Cool have officially been named the new master toymaker for the Cabbage Patch Kids brand – and I’ve got a sneak peek!
Wicked Cool Toys promises “an exciting and comprehensive line of new Cabbage Patch Kids products planned for Fall 2015.” Innovative and adorable, the 14″ Cabbage Patch Kids come in eight different fun fashion themes, and are ready to adopt, love and to become that special friend for life! And, now for the first time ever, these Cabbage Patch Kids feature a bracelet with a heart shaped charm that interacts with the Kids’ newest best friends – the adorable Adoptimal Pets. The new ‘Kids® collection features girls and boys in the new styles, and each comes with a unique one-of-a-kind name, birth date and their very own birth certificate and adoption paper from Babyland General® Hospital.
