New year, new gear.

Taylor Guitars‘ new amplifier brand is Circa 74, and its first model is a throwback to mid-century modern furniture as the company celebrates 50 years.

Bob Taylor and members of Taylor’s in-house electronics and development team worked to create the first model in the range, the Circa 74 AV150-10 Acoustic Guitar/Vocal Amplifier. The 150-watt solid-state amp features a 10-inch speaker and is crafted from acoustic guitar tonewood (mahogany for the first run) “and delivers a warm, smooth sonic character designed to be compatible with a diverse array of acoustic guitar pickups and playing environments,” Taylor says. It has Bluetooth connectivity for seamless music streaming and accompaniment.

“We wanted to build an amp that reflects the beauty of a finely crafted piece of furniture but can also deliver a powerful, clear sound when needed,” says Taylor Guitars co-founder Bob Taylor. “It’s a labor of love and a nod to that creative spirit that sparked our journey back in 1974.”

The new amp features a three-band EQ and comes with compatible presets for pickups from Fishman, Baggs, K&K, and Taylor’s Expression System and microphones from Shure, Electro-Voice, and Telefunken.

Visit an authorized Taylor Guitars retailer in the U.S. to get one for a starting price of $1,199.
