KING ULTRAMEGA has released the music video for its explosive take on Soundgarden’s “The Day I Tried to Live,” featuring Kim Thayil on guitars, Mark Menghi on bass, Alissa White-Gluz on vocals, and Charlie Benante on drums. The track was produced by Mark Menghi and mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur.
The performance captures the grit and emotion of the original while channeling it through a lineup built on pure respect and power. KING ULTRAMEGA was formed by Menghi as a passion project honoring the life, voice, and spirit of Chris Cornell, bringing together artists from across the hard rock and metal world.
What began in 2020 with a pandemic-era recording of “Rusty Cage” has evolved into an ongoing musical tribute timed to coincide with Soundgarden’s long-overdue induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Each release benefits MusiCares, supporting mental health and addiction recovery services for musicians.
“The Day I Tried to Live” and “Rusty Cage” arrive November 26 as the 12-inch single King Ultramega – A Tribute to Chris Cornell via Reigning Phoenix Music.
