March is a month where there’s a lot of interesting things going on. Mardi Gras and Saint Patrick’s Day, Girl Scouts Day, I am in Control Day (yes, it’s real), Be Nasty Day (also real), and even Middle Name Pride Day (that one, too) all stake a claim here in March. There’s also several month-long celebrations like Music in Our Schools Month… and a little bit of mayhem that closes out the calendar with a heavy dose of basketball and brackets. In that spirit, another celebration – March FROZEN FOOD Month – is bringing you #FrozenChefMadness, in partnership with Life of Dad and their Sweet Sixteen Brand Ambassadors (THE ROCK FATHER being one of them). Together, we’re gonna hit the hardwood (well, technically, it’s laminate here) to share with you some Easy Home Meals that you can make quick and easy. And, if YOU think you have a winning recipe, you’ll have a chance to win an $800 Visa Gift Card or other great prizes!
Whether you’re a busy parent that needs to throw together a meal on limited time, or you’re a sports fan looking for a fast snack for the big game, the Frozen Food section offers a lot of items that can go beyond just being viewed at face value. Here’s two recipes from Rock Father HQ…
The Rock and Roll Southwest Sampler (20 minutes)
Break out a couple of boxes of EL MONTERY Taquitos (Chicken and Beef) and Burritos (Bean & Cheese) and pop ’em in the oven on 400 for 20 minutes. While those are in, toss a couple of OLD EL PASO Chicken Fajitas in the microwave (covered loosely) for two minutes. Take ’em out, then toss ’em in an ungreased frying pan and crisp them by cooking for a minute or two (keep an eye on ’em) on each side. When it’s all done, arrange on a platter or plate, cutting the burritos and fajitas into fourths. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and taco seasoning, then serve with a plate of assorted dips, beans and sour cream – along with some veggies, like the GREEN GIANT corn that we used here.
Bonus: Dig that Basketball hoop that we have here? That’s the new, 2014 Shootin’ Hoops Pro Basketball Set from my friends at Step2.
The Kids’ Fruit and Waffle Plate (10 minutes)
With just a couple of bags of DOLE Frozen Fruits (Pineapple, Mixed Strawberries & Blueberries) and an assortment of EGGO Waffles – Thick & Fluffy (cut bite-sized) and Mini-Rounds -you can put together an attractive and tasty snack plate for kids and growups alike. No syrup or butter required, just the sweetness of tasty fruit and crisp waffles!
