”We Can Be Heroes…”

If you’re like me, those four words should be enough to put David Bowie in your head (or maybe The Wallflowers) for the rest of the morning. For DC Dentertainment, home to DC Comics (my favorite publisher growing up) and countless iconic Superheroes, those words represent lending a hand to countries in the ‘Horn’ of Africa – Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya – as they face their worst drought in 60 years.

dad-ecardWith the UN declaring a ‘famine’ for the first time in over 20 years, ”We Can Be Heroes” asks you to ”join the Justice League and DC Entertainment in raising awareness and funds for their three nonprofit partners, Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps, who are delivering aid where it is needed most. DC Entertainment will match donations 100%, and 50% of the purchase price from We Can Be Heroes products will go to saving lives.

For Father’s Day 2012, you can tell your Dad why he’s your favorite hero – helping the cause by sending a donation in his name – a donation that DC Entertainment will 100% match. You’ll then be able to customized a special e-card  that “We Can Be Heroes” will send to him on Father’s Day on your behalf.
