Chicago’s own LAURA DOHERTY has announced a February 11, 2014 release date for her third album, IN A HEARTBEAT. Inspired by the Hudson Valley region of New York where she grew up, along with her longtime home in The Windy City, the 13-song set of folk-pop is accented by elements of jazz and blues, and features a guest appearance from WILCO drummer Glen Kotche on the appropriately-titled, “Drum Kit.”
“I’ve poured my heart into IN A HEARTBEAT! I love the word ‘heartbeat.’ I like the idea of keeping a steady beat, a steady pulse, and that we can feel our own heart beating when we are passionate about someone or something special in our lives. It feels very good to release this album in time for Valentine’s Day. The holiday traditionally focuses on couples, but I wanted to offer something for parents to share with their kids. Families in the Chicago area can catch Laura performing at the Beat Kitchen on December 15, while a CD release show is being planned for the Old Town School of Folk Music to take place on February 22, 2014.
