When I first caught wind of ICE AGE director Chris Wedge’s MONSTER TRUCKS a year or two ago, I thought it was going to be something entirely different than what it is – a fact that didn’t hit me until the trailer arrived in my email earlier this afternoon. I’m completely on-board with this, and even my wife (always a hard sell) said she thought it looked cute. The trailer presents such a throwback vibe to the family films of decades past — a big adventure with some of an E.T. feel (a creature being hunted by questionable humans) mixed with what I’d expect a CARS movie to look like in live-action. Take a look at the MONSTER TRUCKS trailer below, and get a taste for yourself…
About MONSTER TRUCKS: Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
Melding cutting edge visual effects and state-of-the-art CGI, Monster Trucks is an action filled adventure for the whole family that will keep you on the edge of your seat and ultimately touch your heart. January 2017 in theatres and RealD 3D.
Directed by Chris Wedge. Starring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Barry Pepper, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Danny Glover, Thomas Lennon, Holt McCallany.
