Following a first-look at some character art along with some casting announcements from Lionsgate’s forthcoming PLAYMOBIL: The Movie. back in October, things had been a bit quiet on that front. Today that silence has been broken with the release of the first teaser trailer for the upcoming film, which finds some human kids living out a fantasy that many of us have had… to be pulled into the world of their favorite toys! Directed by Lino DiSalvo and produced by ON Animation Studios, PLAYMOBIL: The Movie features the voice talents of Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants), Gabriel Bateman (the upcoming Child’s Play remake), Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), comic Jim Gaffigan (Chappaquiddick) and singers Meghan Trainor and Adam Lambert. PLAYMOBIL: The Movie – Synopsis
The film will follow the adventures of siblings Charlie (Bateman) and Marla (Taylor-Joy). When the former unexpectedly disappears into the animated universe of PLAYMOBIL, Marla must go on a quest to bring him home. During her adventures she teams up with some unlikely new friends, including smooth-talking food truck driver Del (Gaffigan), dashing and charismatic secret agent Rex Dasher (Radcliffe), a wholehearted misfit robot and an extravagant fairy-godmother (Trainor). Lambert will voice the character of villain Emperor Maximus.
Look for PLAYMOBIL: The Movie to hit theaters in the U.S. on August 16, 2019.
