STEM: Little Medical School Play Kits Help Kids Imagine a Big Future…

Published:

This article is more than 6 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

There is no question that in this house, our oldest daughter knows exactly what she wants to be when she grows up: a doctor. Addie is eight right now, and ever since she started watching Doc McStuffins a few years back, she’s been obsessed with the medical profession – something that I hope sticks with her until adulthood. It’s not often that young kids grow up to be exactly what they intended, but Addie seems destined for that path, and we watch her care for her dolls and toys each and every day. For other kids with a similar mindset, Little Medical School offers a selection of Play Medical Kits and accessories, all with the intention of “inspiring tomorrow’s healthcare providers today.” We recently received the Little Pediatrician Kit for review, and the reaction was immediate…

Little Medical School - Little Pediatrician Play Kit

Packed in a sturdy, reusable box that also doubles as a crib (it’s a miniature version of the famed “Finnish Baby Box“), this kit includes a real white lab coat (available in sizes 5-6, 7, 8-10), a super-soft plush baby doll, pediatric assessment form, tape measure, markers, birth certificate and diploma along with self-guided workbook, hospital wristband and punch-out paper doctor’s tools.

We received a size 7 lab coat, and it fits Addie perfectly – it was like watching a superhero put on their suit for the very first time, one that they were just born to wear. My only fear is that she’ll grow out of it soon, so maybe order a size up is what I’d recommend. The quality is fantastic, and it’s embroidered – just like the real thing. A “student doctor” sticker was added.

The paper materials included are really for one-time use, which makes sense in the fact that Little Medical School offers some educational programs at select locations across the country, and these kits would be a part of that. Because Addie and her little sister play doctor a lot, I scanned the worksheets so that I could print out extra copies of the pediatric assessment forms and such for future use. After all, there’s alot of patients in our own “Toy Hospital” that need care, and our little residents need to make their rounds!

A fine addition to the growing STEM category, Little Medical School is highly-recommended as a great gift idea for any child. In addition to the My Little Pediatrician Kit, there’s also a My Little Sports Medicine and My Little Veterinarian Kit available – each sold directly through the official site. They generally retail for $49.99, but as of this writing they’re on-sale for just $39.99.
