There’s been a fantastic trend over the past couple of years where the doll aisle has been receiving some action-packed upgrades. The recent successes of Mattel’s DC Super Hero Girls and Hasbro’s Star Wars: Forces of Destiny have fueled that, and now we have the WWE Fashion Superstars line. Also from Mattel, we have the same two-pronged approach that they’ve taken with the DC line – a collection of articulated 11-12″ action dolls, along with a collection of 6″ action figures. An assortment of these dolls recently arrived at Rock Father HQ, where they became an easy choice for a top pick in my annual Holiday Wish Guide™. Check out the video and review below…
Available Exclusively at Toys “R” Us for the 2017 holiday season (if you see them elsewhere, it’s through third-party sellers) with a wide release slated for 2018, some of the most popular WWE Superstars from the WWE Women’s Division (also “Total Divas” on E!) have been brought into doll form. While there’s basic dolls available, the WWE Fashion Superstars present entertainers like the Bella Twins (Nikki Bella and Brie Bella) along with Natalya, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and more as “athlete by day, fashion superstar by night.” They come with stylized outfits that The Rock Daughters have hailed as “beautiful.”
The girls have favorites in Natalya and the Bella Twins, but I really dig the Steampunk styling of Becky Lynch, who does not come with a secondary outfit.
One of the best features here is that these dolls are well-articulated, which makes them highly-poseable. They also can stand on their own, which is something toymakers should’ve done years ago.
For kids that prefer an action figure to a doll, the WWE Superstars action figures are in-scale with other Mattel offerings like DC Super Hero Girls and the like. Available “Fan Packs” pair popular wrestlers with DVDs and accessories. Additionally, a playset is available from Toys “R” Us as well.
Beyond this initial assortment, other characters are available, and for the ultra-fan, you may try hunting down the limited-edition set that was offered at San Diego Comic-Con last summer.
Rock Father & Daughter approved!
