We’re just hours away from the green flag in this year’s Grant Park 165, but the action of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race Weekend has been unfolding for days, both in real life (IRL) and digital forms.
NASCAR made the jump into the Fortnite ecosystem this week with the debut of the NASCAR Chicago Street Course map in Rocket Racing. While it doesn’t have an authentic Chicago skyline, the map, developed by Karta, is based on the route driven in the real-life NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
“NASCAR has always been about pushing boundaries and connecting with fans in exciting ways,” says Nick Rend, Managing Director of Esports & Gaming at NASCAR. “Fortnite provides the perfect platform to engage a global audience, blending the intensity of NASCAR racing with the immersive world of Fortnite. Karta, with its incredible creativity, attention to detail, and innovative approach, was the perfect partner to help us bring this vision to life. We wanted to build something with longevity for both diehard NASCAR enthusiasts and the wider Fortnite community and we think we have succeeded with just that.”
Karta boasts a portfolio that includes metaverse and digital gaming experiences built with Nicki Minaj, BLACKPINK, TWICE, Amazon Music, McDonald’s, Spotify, and Hugo Boss.
