When I last checked-in from our Back-to-School shopping adventure at Gurnee Mills, there was one store left that I wanted to hit – one that’s been a staple of my seasonal fashion coverage for kids for over a year now, RUUM American Kid’s Wear. What’s become crystal clear over the past year is that we have one very fickle young fashionista in five-year-old Addie, who will quickly accept or reject an outfit or item (even ones that Daddy and Mommy really like), but 2-year-old Finley is a little more easy-going, at least for now. With new Fall collections (including Modern Rocker, Woodland and Back to School) in-stores and online at RUUM.com, the folks at RUUM invited us into their store to grab a few more outfits for the girls, and with $100 in Gift Cards and some additional cash from The Rock Father, here’s what went down…
We hit the store a bit later than usual (5-ish) and immediately started scouting some possible combinations aided by a helpful associate who had some ideas of her own. Thing is, Addie’s become picky. Even some things I’d steer toward – like Camo, which is exceptionally stylish and in-season this year (I’m a big Camo fan) were not only vetoed by Addie, but would’ve been vetoed by my wife should they have made it home. Denim is also big right now, but Addie wasn’t having it. With a hefty pile of possible choices, we made our way to the fitting room for round one:
After a game of “you can’t see me” (which entails Addie hiding within clothing racks), we had some solid picks for her, along with a couple of skirts and a super-cute Candy Plaid Shirt and jeans for Little Finley. But then Addie spotted a winner… a beautiful Lurex Plaid Dress, which I paired with a pink cardigan.
In the end, the girls grabbed those outfits and a few others – including some cute mix-and-match skirts and tops for optimum Back-to-School goodness, but after looking at the RUUM website this past weekend, I’m eyeing some things we didn’t see in-store that I might want to grab… but I should probably refrain for now.
Whenever we hit RUUM, The Rock Father does some serious damage, and I could always do more. Perfect fashions for every season, and then I end up capturing moments like this one…
Five years old and looking like such a “big girl” for kindergarten.
