ANTHONY JESELNIK is one of my favorite active stand-up comedians. His 2010 album entitled SHAKESPEARE (read my review here) still gets play here at Rock Father HQ (when the kids are in bed), and now there’s finally some new material on the horizon. Jeselnik will return to Comedy Central for the world premiere of his original one-hour stand-up special, Anthony Jeselnik: Caligula, on Sunday, January 13th at 10pm. Check out the official announcement below…
Anthony Jeselnik: Caligula
As everyone’s favorite dark prince of comedy, Jeselnik obliterates subjects no one else jokes about and most people don’t even talk about. In front of a live audience at the legendary Vic Theatre in Chicago, Jeselnik doesn’t hold back, covering every taboo topic imaginable, and then some.
Anthony Jeselnik: Caligula extended and uncensored DVD will be released on January 15th by Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. The bonus features include Jeselnik’s uncut performances from the “Comedy Central Roast of Donald Trump,” the “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen,” and the “Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne.” Caligula will be available on January 15th in HD exclusively on Xbox LIVE and Sony PlayStation Network, and in SD on iTunes and Vudu.
Comedy Central Records will also release the “Anthony Jeselnik: Caligula” uncensored and extended CD on January 15. Leading up to the on-air premiere, the Comedy Central Stand-Up Web site will feature preview clips from the special as well as exclusive clips from the DVD. Jeselnik is most famous for the “Comedy Central Roast of Donald Trump” and the “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen.” He has appeared on “Conan” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Jeselnik was named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch in 2008 and one of “Comedy Central’s Hot List” comics in 2009. In 2010, he released his critically-acclaimed debut comedy album, and was the first stand-up comic to appear on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” Jeselnik also has written for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and received an Emmy® nomination for his work on Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars.” “Shakespeare,” through Comedy Central Records. Jeselnik will also bring his signature dark and twisted point-of-view to the network in his new, weekly topical series, “The Jeselnik Offensive,” premiering on Comedy Central on February 19th. In the series, airing Tuesday nights at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, Jeselnik and guest panelists will gleefully bash pop culture and rip the veil of sanctity from off-limit topics.
