Genesis just pushed its design and performance envelope straight into the dunes. The brand unveiled the new X Skorpio Concept in the Rub’ al Khali desert — also known as the Empty Quarter — marking its first true extreme off-road vehicle and a bold signal of where Genesis experimentation is heading next.
Inspired by the resilience and aggression of a black scorpion, the X Skorpio Concept was developed by engineers and designers obsessed with off-road performance and real-world punishment. The result is a purpose-built recreational off-road machine designed to thrive in deserts, dunes, and brutal terrain while still carrying the brand’s signature sense of luxury and drama.
“The X Skorpio concept is an extreme off-road vehicle designed to be driven across the toughest and harshest terrain,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis. “With a tubular frame, a full roll cage, and many components sourced directly from off-road endurance racing specialists, the X Skorpio Concept explores yet another facet of the Genesis brand and highlights our intent to inject emotion and adrenaline into different segments.”

Power comes from a high-performance V8 producing 1,100 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, paired with massive 40-inch off-road tires on beadlock wheels, extreme ground clearance, and a suspension setup built for speed, jumps, and technical crawling. Brembo Motorsport brakes and reinforced safety systems back up the brute force.

Inside, Genesis flipped the off-road rulebook. Instead of stripped-down utility, the cabin focuses on driver endurance and control with ergonomic seating, reconfigurable displays, integrated steering-wheel instrumentation, and materials that balance durability with visual impact.

Beyond the vehicle itself, Genesis used the debut to outline its broader concept-car strategy, positioning the X Skorpio as a glimpse of a future where luxury, performance, and lifestyle collide. Wild by design and unapologetically extreme, the X Skorpio Concept shows Genesis is ready to play far outside traditional boundaries — and do it at full throttle.
Yeah, my next car may be a Genesis.
