Campari turned up the heat at the 78th Cannes Film Festival last night, hosting one of the Croisette’s most buzzed-about parties — and Mads Mikkelsen brought the fire.
The Danish actor, best known for The Hunt, Casino Royale, and Doctor Strange — as well as his turn as Galen Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — surprised guests by stepping behind the bar at Hyde Beach to unveil a custom take on the classic Negroni. Swapping gin for smoky mezcal and finishing with a hit of green mandarin, Mikkelsen’s creation was a bold nod to both his cinematic intensity and the spirit of the festival.
“To be back in Cannes, surrounded by such inspiring, passionate filmmakers and storytellers, is always a privilege,” Mads Mikkelsen said. “The Negroni is an iconic Campari cocktail, served in the world’s best bars, making it the perfect mixology creation to honor the incredible films showcased here. Crafting a twist on this classic cocktail felt like a fitting way to mark the occasion. I have been fortunate to have films nominated and even win in Cannes, and this Negroni variation is a tribute to the visionaries who make the festival extraordinary.”
The event gathered a crowd of international stars, including Barbara Palvin, Dylan Sprouse, Helena Christensen, and Maria Pedraza, who dined and sipped cocktails under Campari-red lights as they debated Palme d’Or favorites.
Fresh off a busy year with The Black Kaiser and Dust Bunny, Mikkelsen co-created the “Mads Negroni” with Camparino in Galleria mixologist Tommaso Cecca. It will be served throughout the week at Campari’s signature venues. With its bold tribute to film and flavor, Campari once again proves it knows how to set the scene.
