MUMFORD & SONS have provided The Rock Father with full details on their forthcoming “Gentlemen of the Road” Stopover tour, on which they will play mini-festivals in select cities with some killer guests. With the band becoming increasingly popular (even babies can get into the act with LULLABY VERSIONS OF MUMFORD & SONS from Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star), these shows are a great opportunity for fans to get up-close and personal. Each Stopover combines the intimacy of a community celebration with the excitement of a world-class music festival. This year the Stopovers are expanding to a Friday night concert followed by an all-day Saturday event. Mumford & Sons will headline the Saturday show, alongside an eclectic and energetic roster of artists curated by the band themselves. A series of smaller events involving local businesses, venues, and, most importantly, local people will happen in and around the town.
About this year’s upcoming Stopover tour, Mumford & Sons said: “The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music. We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in busses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud, explore them and enjoy what they have to offer.”
Like last year, the outdoor events will take place in carefully selected and unique locations across the United States and Canada following a stop in the UK, and will feature a host of internationally acclaimed acts including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Alabama Shakes, fun., The Vaccines, and many more to be announced. This year’s host towns include Simcoe, Ontario, Troy, OH; Guthrie, OK; and St. Augustine, FL. In 2012, the band curated seven total GOTR Stopovers: four in the United States, two in the UK, and one in Australia.
Tickets to the Stopovers go on sale at 11 am local time on February 8th. The tickets are $109, and will have no additional service fees or hidden charges. Each ticket will include a beautifully-designed, commemorative Gentlemen of the Road Stopover Passport. Campsites are incorporated into each Stopover site, and camping has become an essential part of the Stopover experience and is strongly encouraged.
