There’s 25 Wookiees in that photo above, and [SPOILER ALERT] one of them is The Rock Father™! While in Los Angeles last month, I stopped by Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus to meet with the team from Disney Consumer Products & Interactive. After taking a look at the full range of new products from Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, each member of my crew donned one of Party City’s Chewbacca masks for a photo celebrating the launch of Roar For Change – the next initiative from Star Wars: Force for Change, presenting fans with a new global challenge in support of UNICEF. Curious how this is gonna play out and how you can do some good by showing off your best Wookiee roar? Check out the launch video below!
Roar For Change invites fans and families to share their own version of Chewbacca’s iconic Wookiee roar. For each public post, like, or share on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that includes #RoarForChange from now until May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Force for Change U.S. will donate $1 to UNICEF USA, up to $1 million. Funds will be used to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children around the world. To help unlock the donation, other Star Wars licensing partners like Hasbro, Funko and LEGO are getting into the action as well – some of which with their own videos!
Since its launch in 2014, Star Wars: Force for Change has raised more than $16 million for charitable causes around the world. On behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change, funds unlocked through this campaign will help UNICEF to provide Ready-to-Use-Therapeutic Food packets to children suffering from malnutrition, helping them to have a chance at a brighter future.
Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story arrives in theaters on May 25, 2018 – 41 years to the day that 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope first thrilled audiences.
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. SOLO stars Alden Ehrenreich as a younger version of the character originated by Harrison Ford, with Donald Glover stepping in for Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Emilia Clarke also star.
