Tomahawk Reunite with Melvins for 25th Anniversary U.S. Tour

It’s been called “the worst-kept secret in rock,” but after 13 years off the road, Tomahawk is back.

The genre-warping quartet — Duane Denison, Mike Patton, John Stanier, and Trevor Dunn — will hit the U.S. this summer for a month-long run marking the band’s 25th anniversary. It’s their first live outing since touring behind 2013’s Oddfellows and their first chance to perform material from 2021’s Tonic Immobility, which dropped in the middle of the pandemic and never saw a stage.

The tour also reunites Tomahawk with longtime labelmates the Melvins for the first time since 2003’s Geek Show trek — a pairing that feels less like nostalgia and more like controlled demolition.

“In the spirit of the Olympics, Team Tomahawk has decided to rise up and go for the gold once again – also competing will be our cohorts, the Melvins,” Denison says.

Buzz Osborne adds, “This tour is a no-brainer. I can’t wait. A Melvins/Tomahawk trek will be a stone groove.”

Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. local time. An Ipecac pre-sale begins Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. local time (password: Flashback).

Thirteen years later, the blades are sharp again.
