If you’ve followed The Rock Father for a while, you may have seen mention of ZTV, the cable access series I hosted from 1992-1994. This past week marked 33 years since I interviewed Stone Temple Pilots‘ drummer Eric Kretz on the show, and with that in mind, I’ve cracked into the archives on a hunt for footage.
This clip of Stone Temple Pilots performing “Sex Type Thing” was shot on VHS at Palmer Auditorium in Davenport, Iowa, on January 30, 1993. I was allowed to shoot part of the song from the soundboard before entering the photo pit (my first time doing concert photography!) to snap some shots on 35mm film. Check out the clip below!
Stay tuned for more from the ZTV Archives, as I plan to make additional photos and videos available, most of which have never been shared online or seen outside their initial airings in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois in the early 1990s.
About ZTV:
Before YouTube, before streaming, there was ZTV. The legendary Quad Cities cable access series ran for more than 40 episodes between 1992-1994. The series was created in 1992 by a 15-year-old high school sophomore who grew up to be James Zahn, aka The Rock Father.
