Rock Father readers in the New York City area might want to mark their calendars for June 9. The folks at the monthly Hip Tot Music Festival have announced their final show of the season, with SLAVIC SOUL PARTY set to bring their mix of “throbbing funk grooves, fiery Balkan brass, Gypsy accordion wizardry, and virtuoso jazz chops” to families as they take the stage in support of the Community Roots Charter School, a public school in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

Author/Illustrator Melanie Hope Greenberg will start off the event by reading her legendary book, Mermaids on Parade. Melanie will be on hand throughout the show selling original artwork and selling and autographing copies of her books. The event will end with students from Community Roots showing off their talents on the Hip Tot stage.
